The hummingbird totem is often called the strongest of them all. It is known to have a warrior spirit as well as healing powers. 

This beautiful tile is handmade by rolling out a slab of stoneware clay, and cutting to size. When leather hard, the handmade ceramic tile is covered with three layers of black under glaze, then covered entirely with wax. The chosen word or phrase is outlined in pencil, and clay carved away to reveal the message blowing in the wind. Other images are carved and color inlay is added. It is first fired to 1987 degrees, then a clear glaze is applied and fired to 2167 degrees. The end result resembles scratch board or wood cuts.
